Meta has launched Meta One, a family of optional paid subscriptions spanning Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and expanded Meta AI usage, while keeping the core versions of those services free.

Announced on 15 September, Meta One is not a single universal subscription. Users can choose standalone Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus or WhatsApp Plus plans, or broader Core and Premium bundles that combine benefits across the three apps. Separate professional tiers are aimed at creators and businesses.

Paid plans add features rather than replace the free services. Depending on the plan, they include app customisation and expression tools, expanded use of selected Meta AI features such as image and video generation, and professional tools including verification and impersonation protection, scheduling, analytics, team access and expanded business features.

Core use of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp remains free. Basic messaging also remains free, and ordinary Meta AI access is still available without a subscription. Meta One therefore adds paid features and higher usage allowances on top of the existing free services.

Meta says the subscription family has passed 15 million subscriptions and trials to date. Because that figure includes trials, it should not be read as 15 million paying subscribers.

Meta says Meta One has launched globally, with availability rolling out gradually across accounts and markets. Exact features and eligibility can vary by region, app and account.
