Accessibility
SPURN is working toward an accessible editorial product that can be navigated and understood across devices and input methods.
Our target
SPURN uses WCAG 2.2 Level AA as its accessibility target. We do not yet make a formal claim that every page fully conforms to WCAG 2.2 AA; a final full-site accessibility acceptance pass remains part of the build process.
Current measures
The current site includes semantic headings and landmarks, a skip link, visible keyboard focus, keyboard-operable mobile navigation, responsive layouts and reduced-motion handling. We aim to provide meaningful alternative text where images carry editorial meaning.
Current status
SPURN completed its launch-phase static accessibility and performance acceptance pass on 5 October 2026. This is not a formal claim that every page fully conforms to WCAG 2.2 AA: accessibility issues can still exist across assistive technologies, browsers and real-world reading conditions, and the site will continue to be reviewed as it changes.
Report a barrier
If something on SPURN is difficult to access, email hello@spurnmedia.com. If possible, include the page URL, what you were trying to do, the barrier you encountered, and the browser, device or assistive technology you were using.
Alternative access
If a published item is inaccessible to you in its current form, contact us and we will make a reasonable effort to provide the information in another usable form.
