Corrections

Accuracy includes the willingness to change the record when the evidence changes.

What we correct

SPURN corrects material factual errors, misleading factual framing, inaccurate attribution and other mistakes that could change a reader's understanding of a published piece.

We may also add a clarification when the original wording was factually defensible but materially ambiguous, or an update when a later development changes the context without making the original reporting wrong.

How to request a correction

Email hello@spurnmedia.com with the story URL, the passage or claim you are challenging, what you believe is wrong or incomplete, and any evidence that helps us assess it.

How we assess a challenge

We review the published wording against the underlying evidence and, where relevant, seek additional or competing sources. A source's disagreement with SPURN's interpretation is not by itself proof of a factual error, but it may justify clearer attribution, context or a correction.

How corrections appear

When a material correction changes the published record, we will change the affected text and add a clear correction or clarification note explaining the substance of the change. Minor typographical, formatting or grammar fixes that do not alter meaning may be corrected without a note.

Editorial arguments

Editorial pieces can contain interpretation and argument. We do not silently rewrite an argument simply because it is disputed. We do correct factual foundations, quotations, attribution and other verifiable errors inside opinionated work.
